Festival FAQs

These Dafydd ap Siencyn Festival frequently asked questions should hopefully provide you with the additional information you are looking for. If, having read these, you still have some questions, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help.

Is the Festival totally family-friendly?2024-07-23T10:20:08+00:00

Nearly all of the events throughout the Festival weekend are aimed at being family-friendly, so whole families can partake and have a lot of fun together!

The following events are not suitable for under 18s:

  • Wine Tasting Evening
  • Live Music Gig
Is the festival accessible for those with mobility disabilities?2024-08-15T09:22:15+00:00

Most of the festival locations are accessible for people with mobility disabilities.

There is a free Shuttle Bus service on Saturday 21/09/24. This can provide transport to/from Golygfa Gwydyr, Gwydir Park and Caerdroia for those that would like assistance.

If on foot/wheelchair/power scooter then access to Gwydir Park, Gwydir Castle and Caerdroia require travelling over Llanrwst Bridge which is also used by motor vehicles, so requires caution.

The site at Caerdroia is within Gwydir Forest. Therefore the forest paths are often uneven and subject to the elements.

  • Location 2: Clwb Llanrwst. Free for Gig guests. Disabled access.
  • Location 4: Cyngor Tref Llanrwst Town Council. Free. Disabled access.
  • Location 5: St Grwst Church. Free. Disabled access.
  • Location 6: Golygfa Gwydyr. Free. Disabled access.
  • Location 8: Seion Chapel. Free for Gala guests. Disabled access.
  • Location 9: Gwydir Park. 50p charge. No disabled access – please visit Council Office on Ancaster Square.
  • Location 10: Gwydir Castle. Free for Castle Tour guests. Disabled access.
  • Location 12: Caerdroia. Free. Compost Toilet. Portaloo for disabled access.
  • Llanrwst Library. LL26 0DF. Free. Saturday 9.30am – 12.30pm. Disabled access.
Food and drink during the Festival?2024-08-05T09:49:39+00:00

There are lots of shops in Llanrwst where you can buy food and drink during the festival. These include: Convenience stores, cafes, supermarkets, pubs and restaurants.

You can’t buy food and drink at Caerdroia, so please bring what you will need for the day. If you are hypoglycaemic, please bring appropriate rations.

What should I wear at Gwydir Park and Gwydir Forest?2024-07-23T17:01:38+00:00

The weather can be changeable so plan for heat and rain.

As you’ll be outside sun cream is advised.

There will be places to shelter should it rain.

Sturdy shoes are advisable.

Free Shuttle Bus Service. Saturday 21/09/24.

The bus can transport 30 people at a time. You don’t need to book ahead, but please arrive at the pick up location at least 15 minutes prior to your journey time.

The only activities that require you to book in advance are:

  • Wine Tasting Evening
  • Live Music Gig
  • E-Bike Hire
  • Medieval Banquet
  • Tour of Gwydir Castle
  • Festival Gala Concert

Most of the activities throughout the weekend are FREE!

The activities that cost money are listed below:

  • Wine Tasting Evening – £30.
  • Live Music Gig – £15 (+1.50 fee).
  • E-Bike Hire – see Snowdonia Bikes website.
  • Medieval Banquet – £35.
  • Tour of Gwydir Castle – £10.
  • Festival Gala Concert – £10 (£5 for pensioners and children).

If you are allergic to bees or pollen please bring appropriate medicines when visiting Gwydir Park and Caerdroia.

If you are attending the Festival’s Medieval Banquet, please note that dietary requirements cannot be catered for.

What if I have Dendrophobia?2024-07-23T17:03:59+00:00

If you have Dendrophobia (fear of trees) we suggest you avoid visiting Gwydir Park and Gwydir Castle. There are still plenty of activities to enjoy in Llanrwst town.
